How Our Care Teams Work

At HUHS we are committed to providing each patient with complete, coordinated health care through a relationship with a particular Primary Care Team.  This clinical team will assist you with all of your health care needs throughout your time at Harvard.

Primary Care Team Members
Primary care physicians (PCPs) are board certified or board-eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Practice, with specific interests in student health issues and preventive health care.

Nurse practitioners (NPs) hold advanced degrees and are board certified in family or adult medicine.  NPs are trained to evaluate and treat many acute and common conditions, as well as provide patient education and preventive care.

Registered nurses (RNs) provide initial assessment for medical problems, help to facilitate appointments, provide routine immunizations, and offer advice on common health concerns and questions.

Health assistants
support the Primary Care Physician or Nurse Practitioner during an exam, as well as assist with referrals and scheduling appointments.

Please note that you may change your PCP anytime. Those with pre-existing conditions are advised to provide copies of medical records and to make contact with their primary care team in order to establish a relationship prior to any urgent medical needs.
