Patient Portal
Notice on Medication Renewals
At HUHS, we know your health care needs can change over time. While automated prescription systems are convenient, they may not reflect your current care plan. To ensure accuracy and reduce duplication, Primary Care, Counseling and Mental Health Services, and Behavioral Health will only accept renewal requests made by phone or through the Patient Portal, not by fax or automated systems.
Patients requesting a refill for an existing prescription should call the department or send a secure message to their care team:
- Primary Care: (617) 495-5711
- Behavioral Health: (617) 495-2323
- Counseling & Mental Health: (617) 495-2042
Which types of appointments can I schedule on the Patient Portal?
Schedule and cancel appointments for:
- Initial telephone consults for students new to Counseling and Mental Health Services (CAMHS)
- Non-urgent medical visits with Primary Care
- Center for Wellness and Health Promotion: Acupuncture and Massage
- Nutrition visits at Smith Campus Center – for HUGHP and students only
- Sports Nutrition initial consults – for varsity student-athletes only
- Physical Therapy ACL class for current post-operative ACL surgical patients
For Internal Medicine and Urgent Care, please call (617) 495-5711 for assistance and scheduling.
If you would like to schedule an appointment with one of our specialty services, please contact your HUHS Primary Care Team for a referral.
Patient Portal Overview
Currently, there are limited appointment types that are available to book online. For Primary Care and Urgent Care, please call (617) 495-5711 for assistance and scheduling.

- Dependents who receive care at HUHS
Public Health Update
Patients seeking care who have respiratory illness symptoms, a known COVID-19 exposure, or who have tested positive for COVID-19 will be required to mask when entering HUHS.
Please protect yourself, your loved ones, and the greater Harvard community by reducing your risk of contracting respiratory illness. Wear a high-quality face mask in crowded indoor settings, practice appropriate hand hygiene, and test if you feel unwell.
Secure Messaging
- Secure messaging should only be used for a non-urgent health question, to request a referral, or to request a prescription renewal.
- Messages become part of your HUHS medical record.
- You will receive an email notification when a secure message is waiting for you.
- Secure messaging cannot be used for emergent or time-sensitive concerns. Please call us at (617) 495-5711 if you need immediate assistance.

Missed Appointments
If you are unable to attend your scheduled appointment, please cancel your appointment at least 24 hours in advance through either the Patient Portal or by calling the department where you are scheduled to be seen. If you do not cancel and do not attend the appointment, a $25 missed appointment fee will be added to your term bill or billed to your home address.
The Center for Wellness and Health Promotion (CWHP) has a different missed appointment policy than HUHS. Please see the CWHP website for their appointment policies.
