Eye Care Center Overview
- We offer a range of vision care services for adults on a fee-for-service basis, including eye examinations and prescriptions for eyeglasses, sunglasses, and safety glasses. Eye exams consist of refraction, dilation, and pressure-checking.
- HUHS Eye Care Center patients can purchase contact lenses through our online store.

Harvard University Group Health Plan Members
Members with a valid Harvard ID card can receive vision care services on a fee-for-service basis. Optometry services are available to Harvard University Group Health Plan members with an HUHS primary care physician. Ophthalmology services are covered by the Harvard University Group Health Plan when referred by your HUHS primary care physician. Find detailed vision care benefits in the HUGHP Benefit Description.
Harvard Students
One routine exam is covered for students with the HUSHP Student Health Insurance Plan per academic year (August 1 to July 31). Ophthalmology services are covered by the Student Health Fee under the Harvard University Student Health Program.
- Medical eye care is available by referral from your primary care or urgent care provider.
- Routine eye care is available without a referral.
Payment is due at the time of service. We accept direct payment by cash, personal check, Visa, or MasterCard. Payment by student bill and payroll deduction is also available.
Please be advised that there are charges for contact lens appointments and contact lenses. The contact lens exam fee is a global fee that covers the exam and up to two follow-up visits within 3 months of the initial exam. In some cases, the follow-up visit(s) are required to finalize a contact lens prescription.
Optometrists and Ophthalmologists are licensed clinicians specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of eye problems.
