LGBTQ+ Health Support at HUHS
Overview
Harvard University Health Services is committed to supporting the health and wellness needs of our community, including our LGBTQ+ members. We offer a number of services for students, faculty, and staff around matters such as:
- Sexual orientation and coming out
- Gender identity
- Transitioning and gender affirmation
- Sexuality and sexual health
- Fertility and reproductive health
- Physical and mental wellness
Primary Care (Internal Medicine) Services
- Comprehensive primary and gender-affirming care
- Testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
- HIV oral* pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP)
- Gender-affirming hormone therapy
- Consultation for referral for gender-affirming surgery
* HUHS does not offer injectable PrEP.

Mental Health Services for Students
Counseling and Mental Health Services (CAMHS) delivers mental health care to Harvard students and helps to connect with resources available within and beyond campus.
- Individual therapy: One-on-one counseling sessions can be scheduled with an LGBTQ+ affirming therapist.
- Group support: Participate in our safe and supportive groups and workshops. Learn about CAMHS groups and workshops.
- Peer support: Contact Peer Counseling is a non-judgmental and confidential counseling service for Harvard undergraduates. Topics may include any issue, including LGBTQ+ identities, all genders, sexes, sexualities, and relationships.

Mental Health Services for Faculty, Staff, and their Dependents
Behavioral Health (BH) at HUHS provides mental health care for those enrolled in HUGHP, Medicare, and Blue Cross of MA High Deductible Health Plan members who have an HUHS primary care physician.
- Individual therapy: One-on-one counseling sessions can be scheduled with an LGBTQ+ affirming therapist.

Member Services
The Harvard University Student Health Insurance Plan and the Harvard University Group Health Plan cover gender-affirming services, including, but not limited to, hormone therapy, chest reconstruction, breast augmentation, genital surgery, and sperm and oocyte cryopreservation for transgender and gender-diverse individuals when gender identity differs from assigned sex at birth.

The HUHS LGBTQ+ Care Committee meets regularly to continuously improve our LGBTQ+ care approach and experiences.
